Feb 27th 2017: Ft Lauderdale to West Palm Beach

Feb 22nd thru 26th at Ft. Lauderdale:

We spent several days at Ft. Lauderdale. During that time we both got haircuts, went to the grocery store and did our laundry. Some of the fun things we did included...

Moored directly behind Red Pearl was the beautiful yacht "Amphritite." It is currently owned by J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter books). She bought it from Johnny Depp for $27.5 million about a year ago. Now she has it up for sale for $18.75 million. It costs $135,000 per week to rent it.

We took a tour of the Stranahan House and Museum. He was the founder of Ft. Lauderdale and the story of him and his wife was very interesting. Those were tough times.

We dined at some good restaurants...

We took a walking food tour with our tour guide "Howie"...

We saw the 45 story high-rise building under construction that is one of Joey's electrical contracting job sites...

We took several walks on the Ft. Lauderdale beach...

And we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets over our marina...

Monday, February 27th: Ft Lauderdale to West Palm Beach

We traveled 42.8 miles north to West Palm Beach. We had to go under about 20 bridges and we had to wait for half of them to open for us. Some of them open on the hour and half-hour and some on the quarter and three-quarter hour. It just depended on when we arrived at the bridge how long we'd have to wait for the next opening. Also, there are a lot of idle speed only zones in this stretch. It was slow going and took us 6 hours 50 minutes to get to the Palm Harbor Marina at West Palm Beach.

The Atlantic InterCoastal Waterway is beautiful along this stretch as it passes so many beautiful houses and yachts the entire way.

We stayed two nights at Palm Harbor Marina at West Palm Beach. We walked the downtown area and shopped at their central shopping district.
